The World Investment Forum is a high-level, biennial, multi-stakeholder gathering designed to facilitate dialogue and action on the world’s key emerging investment-related challenges. Its mission is to provide a platform where a debate on “investment for development” can take place and ultimately to promote investment flows that contribute to sustainable and inclusive development. With its ties to UN member States, the World Investment Forum is able to bring together a broad coalition of investment stakeholders at the highest level who can influence the global investment landscape.

Past editions of the World Investment Forum brought together thousands of participants from 160 countries across the world, including Heads of State, global CEOs, heads of international organizations and civil society. The World Investment Forum 2020 will take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In 2020 the World Investment Forum will focus on several key issues facing the global investment-development community i)how can investment stakeholders more rapidly integrate sustainability into investment decisions and business operations to create long term value and development impact? ii) what has been the impact of Covid-19 on investment trends and how can the investment community better prepare for similar shocks in the future? iii) how can governments and business respond to the far-reaching development consequences of technological change and the impact on investment? and iv) what are the implications of increasing fragmentation in international economic policymaking, especially in trade and investment?
